Historic Charleston, South Carolina
Charleston is Americas most beautifully preserved architectural and historic treasure, with a rich, 300 year heritage. Since its founding in 1670, Charleston has played an important and often pivotal role in the course of American history. The city past is a testament to the spirit and tenacity of its citizens. And the first golf course (Harleston Green) and golf club (The South Carolina Golf Club) in America were established in 1786. History is literally found around every corner, providing a focal point for a visit to this intriguing city.
Beautiful Beaches
The beautiful Southern Atlantic Coast is just minutes away. Among the most popular spots for locals and tourists alike are, Folly Beach, Isle of Palms, and Sullivan's Island. Catch some rays, or ride some waves while taking in one of what is referred to by locals as the "Edge of America". Cypress Gardens
If you want to get outdoors and stay out of the sun, the Cypress Gardens may be for you. Located near Charleston in Monks Corner, the Cypress Gardens are a lowcountry treasure. Canoe or kayak through the picturesque blackwater swamp for breathtaking views of the tall cypress trees. The aesthetic value of this pristine swamp has been recognized by Hollywood, and has been the location for many major motion pictures, including the Patriot and The Notebook. [top]

Boone Hall Plantation & Gardens
Located in Mt. Pleasant, Boone Hall Plantation is one of America's oldest working, living plantations. Continuously growing crops for over 320 years. As one of the nation's most historic sites, Boone Hall Plantation plays host to many events and festivals throughout the year. Among these events are living history tours, Civil War Re-enactments, and the Southern National BBQ & Bluegrass Festival. Boone Hall is also the location of many weddings, receptions, and reunions. Easily one of South Carolina's favorite attractions, the SC Aquarium and IMAX theater is an amazing place to visit. Fort Sumter Ferry Tour
Where the American Civil War began on April 12, 1861. Confederate artillery opened fire on this Federal fort in Charleston Harbor. 34 hours later the Union forces surrendered giving the Confederacy the first battle of the Civil War. To visit this historic fort catch the ferry from the National Park Service Visitor Education Center next to the SC Aquarium and from Patriots Point Naval Museum in Mt. Pleasant. [top]

USS Yorktown & Patriots Point Naval Museum
Located on the Charleston Harbor, Patriots Point Museum is one of the largest maritime museums in the world. Beginning in 1975 with the USS Yorktown then the aquisition of the legendary aircraft carrier, the USS Laffey and many more. Patriots Point also posesses priceless WWII and Korea war planes which are featured on the Yorktown's deck.
